Bootstrap Partial Linear Quantile Regression and Confidence Bands∗

چکیده
In this paper uniform confidence bands are constructed for nonparametric quantile estimates of regression functions. The method is based on the bootstrap, where resampling is done from a suitably estimated empirical density function (edf) for residuals. It is known that the approximation error for the uniform confidence band by the asymptotic Gumbel distribution is logarithmically slow. It is proved that the bootstrap approximation provides a substantial improvement. The case of multidimensional and discrete regressor variables is dealt with using a partial linear model. Comparison to the classic asymptotic uniform bands is presented through a simulation study. An economic application considers the labour market discrimination effect w.r.t. different education levels.

Confidence Corridors for Multivariate Generalized Quantile Regression∗
We focus on the construction of confidence corridors for multivariate nonparametric generalized quantile regression functions. This construction is based on asymptotic results for the maximal deviation between a suitable nonparametric estimator and the true function of interest which follow after a series of approximation steps including a Bahadur representation, a new strong approximation theo...
متن کاملPartial Identification and Inference in Censored Quantile Regression: A Sensitivity Analysis
In this paper we characterize the identified set and construct asymptotically valid and non-conservative confidence sets for the quantile regression coeffi cient in a linear quantile regression model, where the dependent variable is subject to possibly dependent censoring. The underlying censoring mechanism is characterized by an Archimedean copula for the dependent variable and the censoring v...
متن کاملConfidence Bands in Quantile Regression and Generalized Dynamic Semiparametric Factor Models
In many applications it is necessary to know the stochastic fluctuation of the maximal deviations of the nonparametric quantile estimates, e.g. for various parametric models check. Uniform confidence bands are therefore constructed for nonparametric quantile estimates of regression functions. The first method is based on the strong approximations of the empirical process and extreme value theor...
متن کاملStrong approximations for resample quantile processes and application to ROC methodology
Abstract The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is defined as true positive rate versus false positive rate obtained by varying a decision threshold criterion. It has been widely used in medical science for its ability to measure the accuracy of diagnostic or prognostic tests. Mathematically speaking, ROC curve is the composition of survival function of one population with the quanti...
متن کاملCluster-robust Bootstrap Inference in Quantile Regression Models
In this paper I develop a wild bootstrap procedure for cluster-robust inference in linear quantile regression models. I show that the bootstrap leads to asymptotically valid inference on the entire quantile regression process in a setting with a large number of small, heterogeneous clusters and provides consistent estimates of the asymptotic covariance function of that process. The proposed boo...
